About Me

Greetings blogging world! My name is Sarah and I am currently a seminary student in Texas and planning to go back into full-time chaplaincy after graduation. Before I started graduate school, I completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education and worked as a PRN chaplain at a major hospital. Additionally, I have worked part-time for a hospice in a rural setting. I am so thankful for the patients, families and staff for sharing their stories with me. This blog is dedicated to helping others find hope and relief. People ask me all the time how they can comfort someone in crisis. I will put some thoughts and resources on this blog and pray that God uses it to help you help others (or yourself!)

FAQ's
Why did you decide to be a chaplain?
This is the question I get asked the most often. My mom had cancer and died several years ago. The short answer is that after she died, I wanted to turn my grief into helping others grieve. My grandpa was a military chaplain and my stepdad, a doctor, allowed me to visit patients with him at the hospital frequently. Grandpa and Wayne made a huge impact on me - they showed me how to love on the vulnerable.
How do you handle seeing all that loss?
Well it is awful sometimes. I do lots of Zumba, snuggle with my cute son, and tell my husband pretty much everything. (without violating HIPPA laws!)
Do you get depressed?
Absolutely. I have ups and downs like everyone else. Because I walk with people through such dark times, I appreciate the happy times even more though.
